Our Headteacher

My name is Susan Vint and I am the headteacher of this newly built primary school in Bedford. I was a headteacher in Milton Keynes prior to coming to Lakeview.

The School has been designed in an innovative way taking into account the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda especially Healthy Schools, the need for sustainable schools and the provision for extended schools.  The use of colour is paramount and builds into a theme for the whole development.  The buildings are encased in a cedar wood cladding which enhances its rural appeal whilst still maintaining the 21^st century design and vision.

The International Primary Curriculum

Our School motto is:  'where the learning adventure begins...'

No one can currently predict the nature of work that will be available for our children by the time that they are adults.  Many jobs that they will have probably do not exist yet; especially in the fields of ICT, technology and science.  Our curriculum has developed from the 'International Primary Curriculum' and it is innovative, exciting and creative.  It focuses on developing adaptable and resilient globally-minded learners, prepared for the fast-changing world that they will be living in.

Our School’s philosophy is to maximise the potential for outdoor education. Therefore, outside every classroom is a covered area and grass area which is used by individual classes for planting and exploration in all weathers.  There are also two large hard play spaces and a field with adjacent woodland teaching area. Our approach is to get all of our children interested and engaged, where they see a purpose in what they are learning!

 A Brand New School in Bedfordshire linked to Wootton Academy

Our new school is at the ‘heart’ of the community as the village develops.  Children can attend our school from 3 years to 9 years of age. From us, parents can apply to any middle school but we do work closely with the Wootton Academy cluster of schools and this is the planned direction for our pupils.  Wootton Academy is an outstanding Upper School and we are proud to partner with them!
